PDAWireless Access Points

Currently three wireless access points are available for free public use in the Clayton Center and Hocutt-Ellington Library. The covered areas in the Clayton Center now include the Town Council Chambers, and the Green Room behind the auditorium (which covers the Rotary Room on the second floor). The covered area in the Library is the main room.

These access points are assessable with any 802.11b or 802.11g wireless (WiFi) network card. Most laptops and other mobile devices should automatically pick up these access points and allow users to surf the Internet plus send and receive email. These access points are open for the public, which means that potential users should ensure their mobile devices and laptops are equipped with current Firewall, Anti-virus, and anti-spy ware software for their protection.

A user can setup these access points in a device's wireless setup using the following SSID's (Service Set Identifier) [security has been set to disabled]:

  • Town Council Chambers = Council-Chambers-Public
  • Green Room (and Rotary Room) = tsunami
  • Library = TOC-Library-Public

More locations will be added in the near future. Please check back for updates.
