Inside or out, our parks and facilities offer something for everyone!

Whether you take a stroll around the ½ mile trail at Clayton Community Park or learn how to throw some clay on the wheel in our pottery studio, we are THE PREMIER COMMUNITY FOR ACTIVE FAMILIES!

If you are interested in reserving a picnic shelter please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (919) 553-1550. Shelter Reservations forms can be filled out and returned to the Clayton Community Center. 

Clayton Community Center, 715 Amelia Church Road

This is the home to our Parks & Recreation offices.  The Clayton Community Center is a beautiful 32,000 sq. ft facility that includes an indoor walking track (1/16 mile), our fitness center, art and pottery classroom, and a large gymnasium - To find out when the gym is open, check out the gym schedule!  That is just inside!!  Outside we have wonderful community garden with a greenhouse!


 

Clayton Community Park, 1075 Amelia Church Road

​This is a beautiful park that boasts 1/2 mile paved trail, three ball fields, two sand volleyball courts, a picnic shelter, unpaved wetlands, six tennis courts with a shelter, two playground areas, eight bocce courts also with a shelter and wildlife viewing area.  The shelters are available for rental.  Please contact the Clayton Community Center for availability. 

 

 

All-Star Park, 400 Front Street​​

All-Star Park has several amenities for your family!  At this wonderful park we have a basketball court, picnic shelter, as well as a fenced-in playground to ensure that the little ones don't go running off!  Our shelter is available for rental, please contact the Clayton Community Center for availability (919)553-1550. 

 

 

East Clayton Community Park​, 1774 Glen Laurel Road​

This is one of our newest parks.  At this facility we have a picnic pavilion, soccer fields, multipurpose playing fields, a baseball field, and a one mile trail.  Right now an incredible public-private partnership is raising money to build Clayton's first Universal Playground at this park - a playground where children of all abilities can play! We also have future plans for this park that includes an additional picnic pavilion and a disc golf course.  The shelter at this park is available for rental

 

East Clayton Dog Park, 2027 Glen Laurel Road

Your four-legged family members will be in heaven at this park!!  We have about three acres of leash-free play area. We have two enclosed areas - one for small dogs and the other one is for large dogs.  There are a few rules for this park. The main rules for this park area no children under the age of 12 in fenced in area, you MUST clean up after your dog, ALL dogs MUST wear current rabies tags, no food for dogs or humans, no personal dog toys, pinch/prong/choke collars, and absolutely NO dogs in heat! The park is open from sun up to sun down!  Come on out to play!

The Clayton Center, 111 E Second Street

The Parks & Recreation Department holds classes on the 3rd floor of The Clayton Center.  Some of these classes include Tai Chi, Silversmithing, Computer Classes and Photography!

 


 

Municipal Park, 325 McCullers Drive

The family-friendly park offers a horseshoe pits, fenced-in playground, basketball court, tennis court and a ball field.  Everything an active family could want!    

 

 

 

Legend Park, 550 City Road

This park has a ball field and a mountain bike trail.  There is parking available at the entrance behind the outfield fence.  We have a dirt jump area for the mountain biker in your life.  Our trails here offers challenges to both beginners and advanced riders.  We have approximately eight miles of trail offering spectacular scenery to both bike riders and hikers.  Also see Triangle MTB for more mountain biking information.  Detailed information about the trail can be found here.
