Part-Time Customer Service Representative
This position is responsible for providing reception, customer service, administrative support, and accounts receivable work. Resolves billing or service complaints with customers by phone or in person. Processes receipt of orders for installation, connects, disconnects or change in utility services. Completes contract forms, prepares change of address records and issues discontinuance orders. Determines charges for service requested and collects deposits. Work involves heavy public contact functions and coordination with other staff and departments. Ability to manage and handle cash, check and credit card payments in an accurate manner; extensive front line cash register or banking experience with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is a must. Considerable tact, courtesy, firmness, and conflict resolution skills are required. Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel. Graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business or accounting, and experience in customer services, collections and/or billing operations involving heavy public contact; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am until 2 pm. Salary: DOQ. Closing date: March 6, 2015.
Construction Project Administrator
The Construction Project Administrator position is located in the Public Works Department. Major responsibilities include project management, contract administration, and construction inspections within the scope of the Public Works Department. Will coordinate, supervise, and inspect and review contractors work for compliance with accepted practices, plans and specifications. Coordinate and supervise payment to consultants, contractors, and public agencies. Ensure that all project or program activities comply with applicable laws and regulations. Supervise, review the work of, and provide guidance to consultants producing plans, studies or designs and/or related public works documents. Prepare and make reports and/or presentations as required to the Town Council, community groups, public agencies and the public. Review project or program plans and permits. Respond to complaints and concerns and provide technical assistance to groups such as developers, contractors, engineers, public agencies, businesses, or members of the public. Performs duties as assigned by the Town Engineer. Serve as the Town’s representative to various technical groups and associations, coordinate with other departments and agencies and represent the Town’s interests in interagency coordination. Graduation from a two year technical school or community college with a major in civil engineering, engineering technology, drafting, design, or related field and related enforcement, inspection, construction or engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hiring range: $46k to $48k. Open until filled.
Electric Line Technician
This position works in the Electric Department in the construction and maintenance of the Town’s electric distribution system. Requires graduation from high school or equivalent. Prefer experience in construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. Must possess a valid NC CDL or ability to obtain within six months. Salary DOQ. Open until filled.
Street Maintenance Worker
The position is assigned to a crew responsible for the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, storm drains, curbs, gutters, signs and concrete work. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with some experience in manual labor, valid NC CDL, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Hiring range from $27k to $30k, DOQ. Closing date: February 26, 2015.
Park Maintenance Worker
This position reports the Parks and Recreation Department and is responsible for basic park maintenance. The successful candidate will perform a variety of maintenance tasks such as landscape maintenance work including turf management, plant installations and maintenance, mowing, trimming, mulching, watering, fertilizing, etc. Performs minor building maintenance work (carpentry) as needed to ensure adherence to operational procedures. Cleans trash from public lands. Prepares athletic fields for a variety of seasonal activities and assists with special events as needed. Graduation from high school and considerable experience in the area of buildings, grounds, and facility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Hiring range is 25k to $27k. A flexible schedule is a must as some weekend work may be required. Closing date: Open until filled.
The Department of Parks and Recreation offers a Summer Playground Program – a full day camp program for ages 6-14 to include indoor as well as outdoor adventure. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our camp team. The Camp Director is responsible for the direction of the Summer Camp Program. This position will train and direct counselors, interact with staff, respond professionally to parents’ questions and concerns and will facilitate program policies, regulations and safety concerns. This position must work closely within budget, prepare weekly activity & staffing schedules, maintain paperwork, enforce camp rules and policies and motivate camp staff. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people and possess a willingness to establish a professional rapport with campers, parents and other staff in an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to have FUN. Must possess an energy and enthusiasm for working with teenagers. Must be at least 18 years old. The Camp Director reports to the Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor. Salary $13/hour. This position is seasonal. Open until filled.

Camp Counselors should have experience working with children in structured settings/programs and demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and caring for the program and its participants. Camp Counselors will be responsible for the daily supervision, daily activity planning, safety, and group management. Camp Counselors must be able to work within a team setting to accomplish program goals. Must be at least 18 years old. Parks and Recreation camp programs generally are offered Monday- Friday from 9:00AM-5:00PM however due to our extended care program, there may be times when working flexible schedule is necessary. Salary is $9/hour. This position is seasonal. Open until filled.
