Board of Adjustment

The BOA serves an appeal board for administrative decisions and/or interpretations, approves requests for conditional use permits specified in the Unified Development Code (UDC), and approves variance requests. Also, the BOA may be called upon to make interpretations related to wording or intent of terms in the UDC. It is composed of at least five members who reside within the town limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction. They are appointed to three year staggered terms by the Town Council but any extraterritorial area member must also be approved by the Johnston County Commissioners. The BOA meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers at 5:30 PM.
