Why is the Town of Clayton Calling?
Are you a Town of Clayton electric customer? You might be getting a phone call about us this March! We know everyone is weary of scam calls (as you should be!), but these calls will NOT ask you for personal information, will NOT be selling you anything, and will only take a few minutes. We want to know how we're doing as your hometown electric provider! So we've partnered with ElectriCities and GreatBlue Research to conduct a quick opinion survey. We're a unique community where electricity must be purchased from the big power companies, but our lineman are local, our restoration times are fast, and personal service is a matter of pride!

Water may smell like chlorine, but it’s safe to drink
Until early April, residents in and around Clayton may notice a chlorine scent coming from their tap water. This is normal, and it's still perfectly safe to drink. Johnston County is doing an annual treatment, and most people won't notice any change. Click for more info.

Long-Awaited Greenway Bridge Replacement Underway
The popular Clayton River Walk on the Neuse greenway took a hit during Hurricane Matthew. The floodwaters picked up and damaged the bridge near Marks Creek and Charleston Drive. We've now secured funding from FEMA and obtained environmental/safety approvals at the state level, so we’re able to finally demolish and remove the old bridge and install a brand-new steel one. Work is beginning and, if weather cooperates, the bridge should be ready for use in early March. The construction area will be completely blocked off to users of the greenway. Walkers, runners and bikers will NEED to use the detour. Click for map & details.
