Water may smell like chlorine, but it’s safe to drink
Until early April, residents in and around Clayton may notice a chlorine scent coming from their tap water. This is normal, and it's still perfectly safe to drink. Johnston County is just doing an annual treatment, and most people won't notice any change. Click for more info,

Two Greenway Sections Remain Closed
Two sections of our popular Clayton River Walk on the Neuse & Sam's Branch greenways remain closed for repairs. Having greenways along the river make for scenic trails, but the proximity to water brings challenges. Hurricane Matthew's flood waters took out a bridge and delayed repairs at a utility station along the river. Check the map for how you can get around these closures.

Community Renews Effort to Build Clayton's First Universal Playground
There's new energy and some amazing people behind the renewed efforts to build Clayton's first Universal Playground at East Clayton Community Park. Clayton Community Recreational Foundation, Inc partnered with the Town of Clayton to make this inclusive playground a reality. The non-profit has joined forces with T&T Creative Group to raise $700,000 in the next year. You've got to hear the Clayton mom in this video talk about how MUCH this playground is needed - ALL children of ALL abilities should be able to play together!

Loose Leaf Collection has ENDED!
Our weekly loose leaf collection has ended. Our suction truck runs every year from October to the end of January. But don't worry, we still pick up contanerized leaves EVERY WEEK on your yard waste rake them in garbage bags, plastic bags, rubberized yard cans, or boxes and we'll take them from the curb every week! But DO NOT PUT your recycling in plastic grocery bags or garbage bags! They can clog the sorting machines and SHUT DOWN the ENTIRE recycling plant! If drivers see plastic bags in your cart, they'll leave a notice that they could not pick up your cart.

Novo Nordisk Breaks Ground on $1.8 Billion Clayton Plant
It's a great day for Clayton! Danish drug maker Novo Nordisk broke ground March 28 on a $1.8 BILLION insulin plant at its Clayton campus. The construction alone will create 2,500 jobs, and the plant will employ almost 700 workers at an average salary of $68,000 when it opens in 2020. In his remarks, Mayor Jody McLeod reflected on the outstanding partnership Novo Nordisk and the Town of Clayton have forged over the past 20 years.
